Class notes (PDF) - Fall 2000
Energetics
- 1. Review of basic thermodynamic relationships etc.
- 2. Applications of thermodynamic principles to marine systems
- 3. Advantages / limitations of the thermodynamic approach
Kinetics
- 4. Rates of chemical processes
- 5. Kinetics at interfaces
- 6. Systems with mixing and reactions
This course emphasizes the physical chemical principles that control chemistry in marine systems. After a basic introduction to thermodynamics and its application to an understanding of the marine environment, the emphasis will be on the study of a variety of kinetic processes.
